The national and international markets
The signs are standing on growth
•  The signs in the German wine market are standing on growth.
•  In the entire food trading market, German wine according to GfK 2006 developed its share up to 38% (+2.2%).
•  The German wine market is worldwide the largest market for sparkling wine and the fourth-biggest market for light still wine.
•  In 2006 the market share grew about 46.5 %, concerning all distribution channels of the German winegrower or specialized wine trader.
•  Germany is on place seven among the worldwide wine exporting countries and also the seven biggest countries in wine production. The German wine exports had a growth in the Netherlands (+ 51.86%), in the USA (+ 75%) and in Sweden (+93.96%).
•  The sale of white wine has increased in 2006 by 3.3%.
•  From 2001 to 2005 the wine consumption climbed by 4.59% and reached 2005 about 3.4 milliard bottles (25.48 million hectolitres).
•  This amount will rise – according to prediction of the VINEXPO/IWSR study – from 2005 to 2010 in Germany approximately by another 7.27%.
•  The increase of wine in Germany for wines higher than 8 euros is estimated to be 12.1% (worldwide 17.2%), and for wines between 4 and 8 euros 4.15% (worldwide 9.12 %).
